Fred’s challenges are listed in order of least to most dangerous. 1, losing all food provisions. 2, meeting a creature that looks cute, but actually wants to melt your arm off using acids. 3, acid bogs. 4, woelers. 5, a stampede of mouthers. 6, sharkopus. 7, booby traps. 8, gigatomic kile frendels. 9, (actually if I tell you this, it will totally spoil the story). 10, the last of the ancient Gyra people.
As they cut through the water, Fred stood on the crow’s nest of Valiant. He could see for miles around. The sky was blue, and the ocean like a pane of glass. The sails billowed out from under him. It was just him, Harrier, the sky, and the big blue ocean. He looked down, and saw the crew milling about underneath him, doing their jobs efficiently and quickly.
The entire scene felt wonderful. It felt like he had been caged in the little village of Danner, and now was free. Harrier screeched, and Fred jerked back into reality to see a land mass up ahead.
‘Land ahoy!’ he shouted down. There was great excitement in the air, as the crew all crowded to the prow of the boat. Fred climbed (and tumbled) down to the deck. Soon, the Ember Jungle was in sight. It looked magnificent. The trees were tall as the mystic things in books called skyscrapers, and as thick as houses. It was calm and felt like the perfect home. Then, a terrifying shriek cut the air, and Fred fell back in terror.
